Beijing: A full day excursion to the Great Wall at Mutianyu, perhaps China’s most famous landmark. After lunch, a drive to the Ming Tombs along the Sacred Way lined with giant marble figures and animals guarding the tomb area for deceased Emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644AD). Overnight hotel.

Day 4 |

Beijing: Free day to see the downtown sights or you can book one of our varied Beijing tours. Late afternoon transfer to the station for an early evening departure by overnight train to Taiyuan in comfortable soft sleeper class.

|
Wutaishan: Early morning arrival in Taiyuan with a transfer from the station to Wutaishan by private car. Free time to explore the mountain and overnight in a hotel located in the Temples area.

Wutaishan: A free morning on the mountain before a transfer by private car back to Taiyuan station to catch a train to Zhengzhou arriving in the evening with a transfer to your hotel and overnight.

Day 7 |
|
Shaolin Si: After breakfast a private car transfer to the Shaolin temple complex with free time to explore the many temples in this area. Overnight in a hotel close to the Shaolin monastery area.

Day 8 |

Shaolin Si: Free time before a private car transfer back to Zhengzhou station for the overnight train to Xian in the comfortable soft sleeper class.

Day 9 |
|
Xian: An early morning arrival in Xian, the eastern end of the fabled Silk Road. Transfer to your hotel and breakfast before starting a full day private tour to the Terra-cotta warriors and a city tour including the city walls. You will also visit the Wild Goose Pagoda built in 652 AD containing a large volume of Buddhist scriptures which were obtained from India by the eminent monk Xuanzang. Free time in the evening to explore the city, perhaps eating in the Muslim quarter. Overnight hotel.

Day 10 |
|
Xian: Half day tour to the Yangling Mausoleum, China's first underground museum. On completion transfer to the airport for a flight to Kunming. Arrival in Kunming at with a transfer to your hotel and overnight.

Kunming: Full day tour to the unique Stone Forest situated 90 minutes by car from Kunming. Late afternoon transfer to the station for the evening departure by overnight train to Dali in comfortable soft sleeper class.

Dali: Early morning arrival in Dali with a transfer to your hotel, breakfast before meeting your guide for a full day tour that will include a boat trip on Erhai Lake, a visit to the Xizhou Bai Family Courtyard and Butterfly Spring. Overnight Hotel.

Lijiang: After breakfast you will collected from your hotel by car or minibus for the picturesque four hour journey to Lijiang with opportunities to stop for photos along the route. You will be taken to your hotel in Lijiang and, after check-in and time to freshen up you will have a half day orientation tour including including the Old City, Mu Fu Family Palace and the local Forbidden City. Lijiang: Free day in Lijiang to relax and explore the Old City or Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Overnight Hotel.

Shanghai: An early transfer to the airport for a flight to Shanghai, a cosmopolitan, modern and bustling city. Afternoon arrival with a transfer to your hotel to freshen up and then a tour of the Yuyuan Garden, old Shanghai, and a stroll along the lively waterfront, known as the "Bund" with a visit to the acrobats in the evening.
