One of the most unforgettable regions of China and a truly unique destination in its own right is Tibet. This side trip will give a good insight into this amazing province covering the highlights of Lhasa including the Potala Palace and Jokhang as well as getting a taste for the countryside with a day trip into the hills surrounding the city to visit Ganden Monastery. This trip can be added into most of our China programs with transport into and out of Lhasa being advised by us depending on your particular circumstances with the classic Tibet train being the preferred entry to Lhasa for many.

Day 5 - Gyantse:
After breakfast it is time to leave Lhasa driving towards Yamdrok lake crossing the 4,780m Kamapala pass, en route you will pass many small Tibetan villages where you can stop to take photos. Continue on past the Ralung valley to Gyantse. Free time on arrival and overnight hotel.

Day 6 - Shigatse:
After breakfast during the morning you will visit the Palchor Chode including the Kumbum stupa before moving on to the surrounding villages. Continue onto Shigatse stopping at more villages you pass en route. There will also be the opportunity to visit local small primary schools and meet local children. Arrival in Shigatse late afternoon. Free time and overnight hotel.

Day 7 - Lhasa:
After breakfast spend the morning visiting the local traditional market before departing Shigatse back towards Lhasa. There will be further opportunities to stop at villages en route to meet local people. Late afternoon arrival in Lhasa overnighting at the same hotel as your first stay.
