Small Group China Tours - The Concept

Our Tour Concept
With group sizes at a maximum of 12 people plus your tour leader our Small Group Tours are designed to allow you to get the most out of your China experience by getting up close to everyday life in China. You have the benefit and security of pre-booked transport and accommodation as well as your dedicated Tour Leader who has a passion for China and has lived and worked there, often for many years and who can give you personal insights into life in China from the point of view of a Westerner living there. Our itineraries are designed with flexibility included allowing you to choose how much time you wish to spend with the group and how much you venture off by yourself.

Your Tour Leader*
Helping you along the way will be your tour leader. These carefully chosen individuals have a passion for sharing their China knowledge and all have considerable experience living, working and of course travelling in China. Although not professional guides they accompany you throughout the trip and are there to give their own insights into China based on their own experiences as well as help you with everyday matters. During excursions we also use professional local guides who have specific local knowledge.

Transport
These trips use a mixture of train, plane and minibus with the occasional public transport option such as the metro or taxis also used. For overnight trains we use the comfortable 4 berth soft sleeper compartments unless otherwise stated.

Your Trip Guidebook
Each couple or single traveller will receive a copy of our colour 100+ page Trip Guidebook specific to their itinerary. Packed full of information about China, it’s culture, destinations, cuisine, language and history as well as more practical everyday information you will find it both useful as preparation for your trip, an invaluable companion once you are actually in China and a memento of your trip once back home.

Accommodation
Hotel accommodation is of 3 or 4* standard unless where otherwise stated such as the occasional use of Chinese traditional courtyard style guesthouses which may not have a star rating but are nonetheless comfortable and all part of the China experience. Accommodation usually used on this trip is listed below for each destination although occasionally some may be replaced with options of at least the same or a higher standard.

Meals
The cuisine is definitely one of the highlights of any visit to China and all the meals, with the exception of breakfasts, that are included in the itinerary will likely be Chinese. Your tour leader and the Trip Guidebook we give you will have suggestions of where to eat for meals not included. By the end of your trip your eyes will have been opened to the extraordinary variety of Chinese food and on returning a trip to your local takeaway will never be quite the same!

*Your Tour Leader will be an English speaking Westerner on all trips accompanying you throughout the trip except for any time spent in Tibet where we use a local Tibetan tour leader.
